The Actuarial Science Club would like to inform you of a presentation from Lincoln Financial Group on Tuesday, December 2nd at 11:00 (location TBA).  Darrel Tedrow, an actuary in Life Insurance Pricing and Product Development, and Ehren Nagel, an actuarial student in the Life Valuation Department, will be coming to speak about Lincoln's Actuarial Development Program and to interview candidates for full-time positions and summer 2009 internships.

If you are interested in interviewing, please forward your resume to Darrel Tedrow at Darrel.Tedrow@lfg.com Here are a few guidelines regarding interview candidates:
  • They’ll be interviewing both full time candidates and interns
  • For interns they are trying to get a mix of sophomores and juniors.  No freshman.
  • they request that no one interviews (either for internship or full time) who requires an H1B visa
  • An exam passed is preferred for the full time candidates but not a prerequisite

Remember that December 2nd is coming up quickly, so please get your resumes in ASAP.

After the interviews, The Actuarial Science Club will be holding a meet and greet with refreshments.  Darrel and Ehren will be in attendance to answer any questions you may have.  Please take advantage of this opportunity to network with these actuaries and to find out more about the new club!  The exact time and place will be sent out soon.

If you have any questions about this presentation or the actuarial club, email Lindey Loftin: mnloftin@uncc.edu

Actuaries
Exceptional People Make a Difference . . .
Exceptional Actuaries Make ALL the Difference

One of the most important career opportunities at Transamerica Reinsurance is the actuary. We have many opportunities for actuaries, including marketing actuary,
pricing actuary and financial actuary.

Challenging positions to fill, these roles blend technical competence, industry knowledge, business savvy, creativity, interpersonal communication skills and self-motivation. For the right individuals, they can be the most rewarding jobs in the world.

Marketing Actuary
The marketing actuary plays a vital and high profile role at Transamerica Reinsurance as we execute growth strategies in a dynamic and challenging risk management environment. Our marketing actuaries are at the forefront of our tactical drive to capitalize on the alignment of client needs and our competencies.

Pricing Actuary
The pricing actuary at Transamerica Reinsurance supports the pricing of our new business, involving risk analysis, building projection models and working with our sales team to customize solutions for our clients. With their deep understanding of the technical side of insurance, our pricing actuaries may also become involved in reviewing and resolving treaty issues to ensure our contracts appropriately reflect our pricing structures.

Financial Actuary
A financial actuary at Transamerica Reinsurance builds and maintains complex actuarial models to support embedded value assumptions, cash flow testing, valuation responsibilities, annual budget projections and other functions. The financial actuary develops financial projection models for our reinsured business, including traditional life and UL, and validates models to pricing assumptions and to actual experience.

The Payoff
At Transamerica Reinsurance, a high performing actuary is recognized and treated as a valuable company asset. In addition to a highly competitive base salary and rewards program, a successful actuary can expect the following:

  • Challenging assignments
  • Close collaboration with senior executives, both internally and with client companies
  • Career growth and development
  • Leadership opportunities in product line, functional and sales management

An actuary with the right stuff creates enormous value for our clients and Transamerica Reinsurance while achieving personal goals and aspirations.

In 2005, Transamerica Reinsurance was recognized by the International Association of Black Actuaries as Employer of the Year in the insurance company category for our support of black actuaries in the association.
